Overseas Crimes Task Force
The Overseas Crimes Task Force (OCTF) is a time-limited team which was put in place primarily to co-ordinate the clearance of the backlog of notifications of overseas convictions of UK citizens, which came to ministers' attention in January 2007.
The central task is now complete with details of all the relevant offenders in the backlog having been entered into the Police National Computer (PNC). The OCTF is now concentrating on a range of associated public protection actions, such as conducting checks via the Criminal Records Bureau (new window) to establish whether any offenders of concern have been working with children or vulnerable adults.
The OCTF is also laying the foundations for the wide-ranging review of information relating to criminality which the Home Secretary has announced and which will begin shortly.
